Ford said it still expects to hit its full-year guidance made last quarter of a 2014 pre-tax profit of $7 billion to $8 billion.

Verizon is seeing robust growth in wireless contracts and residential broadband Internet. In eight of the last nine quarters, the wireless communications giant has posted double digit growth in net income. A report earlier this month speculated that Verizon and AT&T might get together to buy out British telecom giant Vodafone (NASDAQ: VOD ) . The provider of wireless systems for the mobile Internet infrastructure market went public in November at $15. It moved lower initially, but the stock has crept into the high teens ahead of Monday's report.
